Aero Metals & AMI Defense Bring Precision Cast 1911 Frames to 2017 SHOT Show
Aero Metals will exhibit its new precision cast 1911 frames at the world’s largest firearms industry tradeshow.
17 November 2016—La Porte, IN—Aero Metals, one of America’s leading investment casting companies, is pleased to be returning to the NSSF SHOT Show in 2017. This year, Aero Metals will debut their new, precision cast 1911 frames. The frames can also be seen on the company’s new, dedicated website, AMIdefense.com.
Aero Metals’ 1911 receivers follow the industry-standard Browning 1911 pistol design and are specially engineered to provide greater quality and consistency than other manufacturers’ otherwise-identical frames. Industry-standard “commercial grade” 1911 frames are often affected by porosity—tiny gas pockets that create internal voids in the cast metal as it cools, which can, in turn, cause problems when machining the material.
Aero Metals/AMI Defense produces “aerospace class and grade” cast 1911 frames, starting with premium quality 4140 carbon steel, 416 stainless steel, and 17-4 PH stainless steel materials and using the company’s 55-plus years of experience, expertise, and proven investment casting techniques. The receivers are delivered 80 percent complete, with all features but the hammer hole, sear hole, and top rails machined in using advanced CNC equipment, and with difficult-to-machine features like the feed ramp cast into the receiver. Additionally, Aero Metals’ slightly modified 1911 frame design straightens, and provides uniform thickness on both sides of, the dust cover.
The SHOT (Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade) Show is the world’s largest firearms industry tradeshow. The official yearly event of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the SHOT Show brings together trade and commercial buyers and sellers of military, law enforcement, and tactical products. The 2017 SHOT Show will be held at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, from January 17-20, with a special, pre-show Supplier Showcase on Monday, January 16. For more information, visit www.shotshow.org.
Aero Metals will be exhibiting at both the Suppliers Showcase and the SHOT Show itself, to display their new 1911 frames. The company’s representatives can be found at booth #S1716 at the Suppliers Showcase, and at booth #4046 (Lower Level) at the SHOT Show. Aero Metals looks forward to the opportunity to demonstrate the quality and precision of their cast 1911 receivers to attendees and fellow exhibitors and manufacturers.
